Holiday Tree

We have a Holiday Tree.  It has been a few years, and this one is REAL small.  TBT separated our cat trees and put it on a small table between them.  We aren't sure quite what to make of it.

I sometimes eat a late meal up on the cat tree (just for a change of spot from the bathroom windowsill and the shoe rack) .  It was an odd change to see a tiny tree below me, but it didnt stop me from eating there.  I was hungry.
I DID kinna snicker-meow at it.
The Thing At The Top  looks innerestin.  THAT wont last long.  A little push an the whole tree will Fall Right Over.  Where's the challenge in THAT?
Marley came up to lick the bowl  and ignored the tree utterly.
TBT says we should make sure to not knock it over, as our "flats" are guarding it.  Yeah, right!  Oh, BTW, that stocking on the table is TBTs childhood stocking.  He says it turned up in a box of stuff his Sister found at their parents place.  The other side has a nieces name on it, so it got used plenty.
We have decided we will just ignore the whole thing...  TBT can do better than THIS!

IZA and MARLEY:    Some days are good fer sitting in a lap and grooming yerself...
But Special days are good fer sitting in a lap
And grooming
 Each other.
 Especially, those spots
Ya cant get at easily!  Ah BLISS...
And then falling asleep.

Caturday Saturday

AYLA:  OOPS!  TBT caught me "wet-pawed", so I figured I better skedaddle...
Usally, I just sit and watch the fishies, and TBT doesnt mind that.  But this time he saw my paw moving slightly and knew what I was up to.  I think I'll just go nap in the bedroom fer awhile...

Garden Tour Thursday

I thought we were done with plants and such fer the year, but I keep finding surprises around the house.   So lets have another tour!

The Venus Fly Traps arent tropical, but we are just a little too cold here for them to stay outside.  And there arent ezactly lots of flies around in Winter annyway, right?  So they need to go dormant when it is cold.  TBT read up on how they like to spend the Winter and there was a lot of conflicting information; evrything from bsgging them up in a refrigerator to burying them outside under a bale of hay.  But he decided to be a bit standard about it.

The garage is IN our basement, and gets cold enough (45-50F) for them to stay dormant.  But they still like SOME light (fer reasons I WONT bother you with (unless ya ask).

So TBT added a small unner-cabinet light unner a garage shelf he cleared for them.  Its on a timer set to 9 hours so they THINK they are in their natural North Carolina home (and he will adjust that as Spring approaches).
The traps are dying back, as is natural.  There are base leaves at the bottom that stay green.  I must say, TBT is REALLY getting into these insect-eating plants.  He may try other kinds next year and even make a bog garden of them.

That stalk in the center is a FLOWER!  We will have to wait to see it...
We also have a lot more Snake Plants.  All these came from one overgrown 12" pot.  I watched him hack chunks of roots apart (I watch him all the time when I can).  They were all tangled with thick roots so there was no separating them.  It has been 2 weeks, and they seem to be doing OK.  I'll know better in a moonth...
This is a Nandina.  Also called "false bamboo" .  It grows about 4' high, is evergreen, and grows tons of red berry/seeds.  The birds dont like to eat them much (they are still there in Spring), but they are very pretty.  Deer dont like them either, so TBT wants to grow more.  So, as an experiment, TBT just pulled up one seedling and potted it to see if it survives.   Its been a week and the leafs arent falling off, so that is good.
The cuttings of the Waxy Hoya plant seem to be surviving after a month.  But they have thick leaves and roots, so we cant tell if they are just "surviving" or actally rooting.  If they live, good.  If not, I think it was worth a try.
It is a bit late, but iffen anykitty wants to come by an look at the plants with me, you are welcome.

We have H-A-A-A-M...

Womancat Wensday

AYLA:  I sleep all over the house.  A few days in one spot, a few days in the next.  I have a dozen great spots.

So it has been a while since TBT found me in the laundry hamper.  Its a good spot.
There have to be enough cloths in it.  And they have ta smell right.
When he does too much werk outside, they are a bit strong.  But not enough and they smell weak.
Tonight was JUST RIGHT!

Mancat Monday

MARLEY:  We cats are very temperature-sensitive, of course, so sometimes the waterbed with TBT isnt the right place ta spend the night.  And carpet is pretty soft.  Im sleepin where the door opens to.
Well, it alerts me to when he is really "UP".  And iffen I feel the least bit chilled, I can just go stick my whiskers in his face an he lifts the covers so I can get unner them and curl up.

Sunday Lap Adjustments

1.  I love TBTs lap.  But I don't like his shoes.
2.  He sometimes shifts from his right foot on his left knee to his left foot on his right knee.
3.  He just recently realized that I always shift positions to face away from his shoes...
See?   Well, he thinks my butt smells and I think his shoes smell bad.  He should wash them.  This pair is older than *I* am!
But I also wanted to show a style I like...   Ears, nosie, and toesies inna straight line!
Even while napping, style matters...

This is a day of remembering...  Is it only 9 years since Skeeter went to the Bridge?  It seems like a lifetime.

I wish cats could be cloned.  I would love to have Marley and Skeeter meet.  They would be BFFs.

I love seeing Brofurs on other blogs.  They seem so happy together.  Marley and Skeeter would be like that.

He was a handsome cat.  He had odd gorgeous fur-patterns...

He protected LC and he was a good Protector of Ayla when she was new here.

He struggled his last few weeks.  The vet said to wait.  I think that was wrong.  Struggling isn't a good thing sometimes.  He was confused, stopped eating, and I was in misery about it.  He was my first cat who died slowly and I didn't know what to do.

I should have let him run free a month or so earlier.  But he taught me when to know to do that.  A little early is kinder than a little later...

He was a sweet cat, always smelled like baby powder.
Friends at the time set up a sending-off tribute...
And he rests here, close by the pond he spent his last day beside...
Miss you, Skeeter...

Freaky Friday

IZA:  TBT (and I, I suppose), discovered something very odd about me.  Iffen he puts his fingertip right in the center of the top of my head, I freeze in place!  I feel helpless.  And as ya can see, I DONT LIKE IT!
It doesnt have anny effect on Ayla or Marley...  ITS NOT FAIR!

Throwback And Thankful Thursday

MARLEY:  We decided ta look back ta today 5 years ago.  And the pictures taken that day were about ME!
I see he disturbed my nap...
I dont nap in the huts now as often as I did then, but I am very thankful for the cat trees ta run up and down, claw on the posts, and nap on the open platforms!

Mancat Monday

MARLEY:  You usually see me napping next ta Iza, cuz we can share a lap and Iza sleeps soundly.  Ayla is more restless and gets up often ta wander around.
But I love being near BOTH my sisfurs, so I am napping with Ayla this morning...

Freaky Friday

MARLEY:  We are all surprised today!  Well, ya can TELL by the surpised look on my face, right?

See, TBT cut up one of our indoor houseplants ta make more of them and he stuck the pieces in pots filled with soil that had been sitting in flowerless pots outside all Summer.
So we were all amazed when a PETUNIA bloomed from one of them AND TBT saw little leaves of more in a couple of the other pots too!
Looks like we will have some flowers in Winter here.

In The Nip Patch

IZA:  Apparently, NIP plants are tough.  We have had a couple hard freezes here and they arent dead yet.  For which I am very thankful.  NIP is very impawtant to me!
TBT has collected whole plants and hung them upside down in the basement ta dry.  So I (we) are good for the Winter.

Marley surprized me while I was sitting among the NIP, and I got all pouncey and protective.
Its HIS NIP too of course, but I donnt allus remember that.  He backed off.  But TBT was there and reminded him that there was plenty in the house so it was OK.

Going Out

Some mornings we want to go outside at random times.  Somedays we all want to go out at the same times.  Today was a "all at once" time.
We waited...
And waited.
TBT EVENTUALLY opened the door!
Marley went out first.  It varies.  Sometimes Ayla hops over the others ta get out.
But not this time.  She waited.
And then hopped over Iza and out of sight...
Iza likes to make sure everything is safe.  So out she went last...
